David Blaine’s first effect is believed to be the Cigarette Through Card, which his mother purchased for him at a Disney magic shop. As a teenager, he was struck by the acting bug and appeared in both commercials and soap operas on television. It was also during this time that he began to create the eccentric character the serves as the basis for his magic.
Blaine currently has three DVD’s out on the international market, plus the best selling book, Mysterious Stranger. In England, he's produced Mystifier and Showman — a compilation of his first three national television specials: Street Magic, Magic Man, and Frozen in Time. In the States, Blaine featured all three specials on a single DVD entitled Fearless. There are currently two different versions of his book, Mysterious Stranger, which supposedly uses codes and hidden symbols to lead to a buried treasure in the United States.
